Jim Orencio

Jim Orencio was born in Antipolo, Philippines, in 1969.  Having spent his youth on the island of Romblon with his grandparents, Jim moved with his family to Papua New Guinea in the '70's.  A member of the Philippines Salingpusa art group, Jim Orencio graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts in Diliman with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1990.  He was a Finalist in the Metrobank Foundation National Painting Competition in 1990 and 1993, and in the AAP-ECCA Semi-Annual Abstract competition in 2006.  In 2006, he was named Most Outstanding Visual Artist of Aklan, Philippines.  Having exhibited in France and Papua New Guinea, as well as numerous shows in the Philipines, Jim has had 13 solo exhibitions thusfar.  Jim Orencio has been "Artist in Residence" for over a decade at the Silangan Foundation for Arts, Culture & Ecology in Antipolo, Philippines.  Silangan was founded by Dr. Joven Cuanang and is an envrionrmental conservation area with art galleries on the spacious estate.  Jim Orencio serves as Assistant Curator of the exhibitions at Pinto Gallery at Silangan Gardens.  For years, Jim worked alongside Mark & Robin Merrill doing outdoor painting seessions in varous gardens with the Antipolo Thursday Group of Artists.  Jim's artwork is exclusively represented in the Untied States by the Upper Room Art Gallery, a non-profit collective of artists that have worked alongside each other for many years.
